Live Event with Frank Cottrell-Boyce-Children's Laureate 2024

Oak Class were lucky enough to access a live virtual event today, to meet Children's Laureate, Frank Cottrell-Boyce.

He is a famous children's author and screenwriter and also (not so many people know this) co-wrote two of Queen Elizabeth II’s most iconic on-screen cameos – at the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony with Daniel Craig and her Platinum year’s Jubilee sketch with Paddington Bear.  

During the event he revealed how he first started his writing career whilst he was in Year 6 and how on his very first day at school, in Reception, he kicked a nun because he thought she was a dalek!  He read an extract from his book, Cosmic and explained where his inspiration for that book had come from.

We all found what he had to say, very informative and Oak Class will be getting the chance to review some of his children's books, to choose which one they would like to be bought for their Book Gift this term.
