Saturday 28 February 2026 Kent Festival of Music at St Edmund's School On Saturday 21st February, children from Wickhambreaux were invited to perform in the Kent Festival of Music at St Edmund's School, Canterbury. Congratulations to a cellist, in KS2, who performed in front of a small audience and achieved a commended certificate for his performance. Well done!

Saturday 28 February 2026 Dover Stage Festival On Saturday 15th February three of our Wickhambreaux students took part in a singing and dancing performance at the Dover Stage Festival. This is a friendly and welcoming festival where the art of dance, singing and performance is celebrated by giving young people the opportunity to perform in front of an audience.

Thursday 26 February 2026 A talented Year 6 student in Shrek The Musical at the Malthouse Theatre Congratulations to this talented Year 6 student on her wonderful performance in Shrek the Musical at the Malthouse Theatre, led by JGH Associates company.

Saturday 14 February 2026 KS1 Author Visit Chestnut and Willow Classes were delighted to welcome Rachel Tilda Wolf for a special author visit this week. She led an engaging workshop where children explored storytelling ideas, learned about the writing process, and asked thoughtful questions about her books, including Wolf in the City and Bear's Perfect Dance. The session sparked great enthusiasm for reading and creative writing across both classes.

Thursday 22 January 2026 Wicked Sing-Along On Thursday 22nd January at 3:00pm, all of the KS2 Wickhambreaux children sang the Wicked Medley in the village hall, joining over 300,000 other singers from around the world via a live-streamed YouTube event. The children also sang alongside Emma Kingston, who plays Elphaba in the West End production of Wicked, broadcasting live from The O2 in London. It was a fun, unforgettable, shared musical experience, and the KS2 children sounded fantastic!

Wednesday 21 January 2026 Exploring States of Matter With A Whoosh! Oak Class and Maple Class were amazed by a dramatic 'woosh bottle experiment' as part of their learning on states of matter and energy of particles. The experiment used methylated spirit in a bottle. By shaking the bottle, the children learned how this gives the liquid particles more energy, causing some of the spirit to evaporate into gas. When the gas was ignited, it produced the exciting “woosh” effect, showing how energy can cause rapid changes in matter. A huge thank you to our trained fire warden, Mrs Dawson, for ensuring the experiment was carried out safely. Check out the slo-mo video below:

Thursday 18 December 2025 Carols Around The Christmas Tree It was wonderful to see parents, carers, family members and friends come together as a community around the school's Christmas tree for a festive sing-along. Everyone enjoyed singing Christmas carols and seasonal songs together, while warming up with delicious hot chocolates kindly provided by the school's fundraising committee. 🎄☕✨

Thursday 18 December 2025 Reveller's Festive Concert and Party On Sunday 14th December, several members of Wickhambreaux Orchestra teamed up with the Revellers community orchestra for an inspiring day of music-making, led by the brilliant David Burridge. The children had a fantastic time performing an exciting programme that included Pirates of the Caribbean, Pachelbel's Canon, Believer, and Stravinsky's dramatic Firebird. All the children enjoyed a Christmas party after all their musical playing. Well done to all the children that took part!

Thursday 11 December 2025 Simon Langton Girls' Grammar School Orchestra Musical Visit On Thursday 11th December 2025, we were delighted to welcome talented students from Simon Langton Girls' Grammar School to our school for a special musical performance. They treated us to a beautifully played selection of pieces from the much-loved film The Snowman. Their stunning instrumental and vocal work brought the magical story to life, captivating the children and creating a wonderfully festive atmosphere throughout the hall. It was a memorable experience that left everyone feeling inspired and full of Christmas cheer.

Friday 5 December 2025 Wickhambreaux Choir performed at the PWRR Carol Service On Wednesday, 3rd December, the Wickhambreaux Choir had the wonderful honour of performing alongside the brilliant PWRR Band in the magnificent setting of Canterbury Cathedral. Their voices rose beautifully through the historic space, filling the cathedral with festive spirit and creating a truly magical start to the season. Well done to all the children involved and we look forward to performing in the Cathedral again next year!

Saturday 15 November 2025 Singing Specialist Workshop On Friday 14th November, Mrs Brooks, Canterbury Cathedral's Singing Partnership Lead,joined the choral scholars to help our children prepare for the St Nicholas Carol Service on December 7th. Together, they led a lively and inspiring vocal workshop, filled with joyful singing, new techniques, and rich harmonies for everyone to explore.

Friday 7 November 2025 Author Lucy Strange Inspires Wickhambreaux’s Community of Readers This week, KS2 were thrilled to welcome author Lucy Strange to Wickhambreaux! Lucy spoke passionately about her wonderful books, including The Secret of Nightingale Wood and Sisters of the Lost Marsh, and shared how important it is to feed our imaginations through reading and storytelling.

Tuesday 7 October 2025 Harvest Festival 2025 On Friday 26th September Wickhambreaux School celebrated the Harvest festival. It was truly heart warming to see our church filled with parents, grandparents, and members of the local community, all coming together to celebrate Harvest. Our children sang with joy and their performances were a real highlight of the day. We were deeply moved by your incredible generosity in supporting Catching Lives. Thank you for making the celebration so special!

Monday 21 July 2025 Wickhambreaux High Tea On Wednesday 25th June, Wickhambreaux was filled with joy and celebration as we enjoyed a wonderful High Tea afternoon full of music, dancing, and community spirit. The event featured delightful performances, toe-tapping tunes, and plenty of smiles-accompanied by delicious cakes and plenty of tea! It was a truly heart-warming afternoon that brought everyone together to share the children's creativity, joy and celebration!

Monday 21 July 2025 Canterbury Great Big Summer Sing On Friday, 20th June, several children from Wickhambreaux joined voices with students from across the local area inside the awe-inspiring Canterbury Cathedral. This spectacular event, brought to life by Kent Music and the Cathedral was a full day immersed in the joy of singing featuring fun and dynamic vocal workshops. The day ended with a wonderful showcase where the children performed to their family and friends. It was a truly inspiring, uplifting and fun filled day! Well done to everyone that took part!
