Oak Class Residential - 2026

Photos and updates will be posted every evening. We'll do our best to get photos of everyone!

Day 4 (Thursday)

Today was a very rainy day, but that didn’t stop us! The children showed great determination as they braved the elements to abseil from a 100ft disused railway bridge.

We were really impressed with how many children gave it a go — for some, simply stepping over the barrier was a huge achievement, and they should be very proud of themselves.

Afterwards, we headed into the village of Castleton to enjoy some time exploring the gift shops before returning to our accommodation.

Now we’re back warming up and making the most of our final evening together.

Day 3 (Wednesday)

Today was all about the water! The children spent the day taking part in kayaking, mega-SUP and raft-building activities.

There was plenty of fun along the way, with games including kayak tag and last person standing on the SUP. We had a few showers throughout the day, but nobody minded as we were already soaked! To round off the activities, everyone enjoyed a swim in the water.

We're now back at the centre after a great day of adventure and teamwork, and have enjoyed a delicious dinner of chilli con carne followed by apple crumble.

Day 2 (Tuesday)

Today was a day of real adventure! We split into two groups and spent the day canoeing and scrambling.

During canoeing, the children played canoe football, tested how many people could fit into a canoe before it sank, went swimming, and had great fun dunking their teachers—who got very wet! At the Roaches, they scrambled over boulders, squeezed through narrow gaps and crevasses, and enjoyed some fantastic views. We even had to battle through a hail and thunderstorm this afternoon.

It was wonderful to see the children supporting one another, and especially encouraging to watch Year 6 pupils succeed in activities they found more challenging last year.

This evening, everyone enjoyed fish (or sausage) and chips from the local chip shop, and we're now making the most of another sunny evening by playing outside.

Day 1 (Monday)

We arrived at our accommodation after a smooth journey. After meeting our instructors, who'll be with us for the week, we went out for our first activity: rock climbing. Wearing helmets and harnesses, the children took on the challenge of climbing Harboro Rocks while their friends worked together to belay and encourage them from below.

Now back at our accommodation and settled into our rooms, we’re enjoying a beautiful evening outdoors, making the most of the sunshine with games of football and hide-and-seek.
