Highlights of the week:
Yesterday we celebrated National Poetry Day. The theme this year was wonder and as a class we created our own poem. Each of the children came up with a line beginning with “wonder is…”. Can your child spot theirs? We also created our own blackout poems using pages from books or nursery rhyme lyrics which children then took home to share with you.
This week in English we worked in groups to act out a scene from our class book The First Drawing. After getting into character the children then came up with some wonderful adverbs to describe their actions.
In Computing, the Year 3’s were ‘painting’ trees on the laptops and comparing how easy it is to undo when you make a mistake digitally, versus using real paints! During Art the children were all working on their weaving skills, using the cups and the weaving squares. Maybe they can tell you about the pattern they created!
Key learning for next week:
Our spelling focus for the week is words ending in ‘-ure’:
furniture
future
sure
unsure
treasure
measure
pressure
pleasure
closure
enclosure
In English we will be looking at fronted adverbials and starting to think about our own retellings of The First Drawing. In Maths we will be finding complements to 100.
