Children's Book Week 2025-Monday

What a fabulous kickstart to our Children's Book Week!  So many children had worked hard at home to produce some extremely impressive masks based on books and book characters.  To show off their efforts, we all enjoyed a festive playground parade to view all of our masked pupils.

Thank you so much to all parents and carers who helped the children behind the scenes with their creations and also to those who were able to stay behind to cheer on our amazing procession.

Also helping us launch this year's Book Week was a special VIP visit from the Lord Mayor of Canterbury and the Lady Mayoress. Not only did they share a favourite children's book and its heroic and villainous characters with all the classes but they talked a lot about how important reading is to their special job in the City Council.  We also learnt lots about how the council works and about the democratic processes that elect the Lord Mayor as well as all the councillors themselves.  This supported all the learning we do in school on the 5 British Values, one of which is DEMOCRACY.  We even received a special invitation to see how these processes work at the Guildhall in Canterbury.

We are very grateful to our VIP's for their time and enthusiasm with supporting our children's enjoyment of reading at Wickhambreaux CEPS today.
