World Book Day 2026

We enjoyed one of our best World Book Days yet at Wickhambreaux, helped along by beautiful sunshine and some wonderfully imaginative costumes. The day began with our much-loved annual parade around the playground to the World Book Day song, with children proudly showing off their creative outfits.

This year’s theme was comic books, and children took part in a carousel of activities in their houses. It was lovely to see pupils of different ages working together, with older children supporting and encouraging the younger ones.

Pupils explored French and Belgian comics, including Tintin, with Madame Holland; designed their own comic book covers for their houses with Mrs Bremner; created photo freeze-frame comic strips with Mrs Barnes; and made digital comics on the computers with Mr Kent.

It was a day full of creativity, laughter and storytelling – a fantastic celebration of our shared love of reading. Thank you to parents for your support with costumes, and to the children for their enthusiasm and imagination.
